DateNotes Privacy Policy
# Privacy Policy — DateNotes
**Last updated: July 5, 2026**
DateNotes ("the app") is a private dating journal developed by SiU Ahn ("we", "the developer"). This policy explains what data the app handles and how your privacy is protected.
## Summary
DateNotes stores everything you enter **only on your device**. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server that receives your journal entries. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous advertising data used to show ads.
## 1. Data you enter
All content you create — people, dates, reflections, notes, tags, and settings — is stored locally on your device using on-device storage (Hive). We never transmit, collect, or have access to this content. If you uninstall the app, this data is deleted.
You may export your data to a file and import it yourself. Exported files are handled by your device's own share and file features; we do not receive them.
## 2. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google may collect and process:
- Advertising identifiers (e.g. Android Advertising ID)
- Device information and general (non-precise) location derived from IP address
- Ad interaction data
This information is used for ad delivery, measurement, and — where you consent — personalization. On supported devices you can control personalization through the consent options presented in the app and your device's ad settings.
Google's use of data is governed by its own policy:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, a consent message (GDPR) is shown before personalized ads are served. On iOS, the App Tracking Transparency prompt lets you allow or deny the use of your advertising identifier for tracking.
## 3. Device permissions
The app may request the following permissions, each optional and used only for the stated feature:
- **Biometric / device authentication** (`local_auth`): to unlock the app when you enable App Lock. Authentication happens on-device; we never receive biometric data.
- **Notifications**: to send reminders you schedule. Notifications are generated on your device.
- **File access** (import/export): only when you choose to export or import your data.
## 4. Data we do NOT collect
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, health data, or any journal content. We have no server and no user accounts.
## 5. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13. It is intended for adults managing their own dating life.
## 6. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
