# DishVerdict Privacy Policy
**Effective date: July 4, 2026 · Last updated: July 4, 2026**
DishVerdict ("this app") values your privacy and complies with applicable privacy laws. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is protected.
## 1. Information the App Collects or Transmits
### 1-1. Directly identifiable information
This app has no sign-up and collects no directly identifiable personal information such as name, email address, or phone number. It operates no server of its own.
### 1-2. Data stored locally on your device
The following data is stored only on your device (using the Hive local database) and is never transmitted externally:
- Restaurant names, order history, dish names, prices, star ratings, and review notes you enter
- Order screenshot images you attach (stored in the app's private folder on the device)
- App settings (theme, language, category list)
Text recognition (OCR) of order screenshots is performed **entirely on-device** by the Google ML Kit engine. Neither the images nor the recognition results are sent to any external server.
### 1-3. Information collected by third-party services
**Google AdMob (advertising)**
This app displays ads served by Google AdMob. In the course of serving ads, AdMob may automatically collect:
- Advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA)
- IP address and device information (model, OS version)
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
On iOS, the IDFA is used for advertising only if you grant App Tracking Transparency (ATT) consent. See the [Google Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) for details.
**Google Play / App Store (in-app review & update)**
When requesting an app review or checking for in-app updates, Google Play or the App Store may process information under their own policies. This app itself collects nothing additional.
## 2. Permissions
| Permission | Purpose | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Photo library access (iOS/Android photo picker) | Selecting an order screenshot (OCR auto-fill) | Optional |
| Camera (iOS) | Photographing an order screen (OCR auto-fill) | Optional |
| Internet | Serving ads, checking for in-app updates | Required |
Declining the optional permissions still leaves every core feature available via manual entry. No other sensitive permissions (microphone, contacts, location, etc.) are requested.
## 3. Retention Period
- Locally stored data: retained until you run "Delete all data" in Settings or uninstall the app.
- Data collected by third parties (e.g., AdMob): governed by their respective privacy policies.
## 4. Third-Party Disclosure
Apart from Google AdMob as described in section 1-3, this app provides no personal information to any third party. Your reviews and ledger data are visible to no one but you.
## 5. Your Rights
- **Delete data**: Settings → Delete all data, or uninstall the app to remove all local data immediately.
- **Export data**: Settings → Export backup creates a JSON copy of your ledger.
- **Opt out of personalized ads**: On Android, reset/delete your advertising ID under Settings → Google → Ads. On iOS, disable tracking under Settings → Privacy → Tracking.
## 6. Children's Privacy
This app is not directed at children under the age of 14 (nor under 13, for COPPA alignment) and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. AdMob ads are configured for general audiences.
