Gymdex Privacy Policy

Gymdex Privacy Policy

  • Effective date: July 31, 2026
  • Last updated: July 31, 2026

SiU Ahn ("the developer") takes the privacy of Gymdex ("the app") users seriously. The app has no sign-up, runs no server of its own, and keeps everything you create on your own device. This policy explains what the app handles and what leaves your device.

1. Information the app collects and transmits

1-1. Directly identifying information

The app collects no directly identifying information — no name, email address, phone number, date of birth, or account details. There is no sign-up or login, and the developer operates no server that could identify you.

1-2. Stored on your device only (never transmitted)

The following is stored on your device and is sent to no one, including the developer. Storage uses the Hive and shared_preferences libraries.

Stored itemContents
BookmarksExercises you saved
Workout plansPlan name, weekdays, the exercises in it and their set/rep setup
Workout logsDate performed, exercise, reps per set, and the weight you optionally enter
Active sessionToday's workout while it is still in progress
Exercises you createdName, body part, equipment, difficulty, target muscles, and the steps, mistakes and tips you wrote
Photos for exercises you createdOne image file you picked yourself (per exercise), kept as a copy in the app's own folder
RecentsRecently viewed exercises and recent search terms
App settingsTheme (light / dark / system) and language

This is training data you enter or that accumulates as you use the app. It contains no clinical information such as medical examination results or diagnoses. Photos you attach to your own exercises are also stored only on your device and are never transmitted.

1-3. Information sent to third-party services

Google AdMob (advertising)

The app is free and shows Google AdMob ads to support its operation. To serve ads and measure their performance, AdMob may collect and process:

  • Advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID, iOS IDFA)
  • IP address and the approximate location inferred from it (country / city level)
  • Device information (model, OS version, language, screen size)
  • Ad impression and click records

On iOS the app shows an App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, no personalized advertising based on the advertising identifier is delivered; ads still appear, chosen at random.

Google Play / App Store

The app contacts the stores to request an app review (in_app_review) and to check for updates (in_app_update, and the App Store lookup API on iOS). None of this sends personal information to the developer.

2. Permissions

The app requests no sensitive permissions — no camera, microphone, contacts, location, photo library, or storage access. It uses only network access, for ads and update checks.

The system file picker opens only when you import data or attach a photo to an exercise you created, and the app reads just the single file you select there. The app never browses your photo library — a photo is copied into the app's own folder only after you explicitly choose that file in the picker.

iOS lists a photo library purpose string for this app. Apple requires that string because the bundled file-picker component references the related system API; it does not mean Gymdex reads your photo library.

3. Retention

  • On-device data: kept until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. The developer cannot access this data, so there is no separate disposal process.
  • Third-party data: retention of anything AdMob collects follows Google's policy.

4. Disclosure to third parties

The developer never sells, rents, or transfers your data to third parties. The only information that leaves the app is what is described in section 1-3 — Google AdMob and app store communication.

5. Your rights and how to exercise them

  • Delete everything: Settings → Data → Reset all data. Bookmarks, plans, logs, and the exercises and photos you created are removed immediately and cannot be recovered. A single exercise you created can be deleted from its detail screen, which also deletes its photo file.
  • Export your data: Settings → Data → Export data. Save your content as a JSON file to keep or to move to another device. Photos for exercises you created are encoded inside that file.
  • Uninstall: removing the app deletes the on-device data with it.
  • Reset your advertising identifier
    • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Reset or delete advertising ID
    • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track"

6. Children's privacy

The app is not directed to children under the age of 14 (the threshold under Korean law), and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children. For COPPA alignment, the app is likewise not directed to children under the age of 13. AdMob ads are configured for a General Audience. If you believe a child's information has been collected, contact us at the address below and we will look into it.

7. Privacy contact

We reply to privacy inquiries sent to the address above within 7 business days.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes because of a change in law or a new app feature, the updated text is posted on this page and the effective date is revised. Significant changes are also announced through the app's update notes.
