Idiom Day Privacy Policy

Idiom Day — Privacy Policy

  • Service: Idiom Day (오늘의 사자성어) — Android and iOS app, also offered as a mini app inside the Toss app
  • Effective date: October 1, 2026
  • Last updated: October 1, 2026

SiU Ahn ("the developer") takes the privacy of Idiom Day ("the service") users seriously. This policy explains what information the service handles, why, how long it is kept, and your rights.

The service does not require sign-up or login, and does not collect information that directly identifies you, such as your name, email address, phone number or date of birth.

1. Information the service handles

1-1. Directly identifying information

None. The service has no accounts or login.

1-2. Information stored only on your device (never transmitted)

The following is stored only in the app's storage on your device and is never sent anywhere, including to the developer:

  • Puzzle history: date, puzzle number, number of tries, whether you solved it, whether you used the hint
  • Your streak and review schedule
  • Whether you finished the first-run introduction, and the date you first used the app
  • The date the full-screen ad was last shown (so it is shown at most once a day)
  • Settings: display language, whether the daily reminder is on and its time, and the number of app launches (used to decide when to ask for tracking permission on iOS)

The developer does not run a server. All puzzles and their meanings are bundled in the app, so no network request is made to load them.

1-3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app shows ads (a bottom banner and at most one full-screen ad a day) through Google AdMob, provided by Google LLC. No full-screen ad is shown during the first three days after you start using the app.

  • To serve ads, measure them and prevent fraud, AdMob may collect and process advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID, iOS IDFA), IP address, device information (model, OS version, language) and ad interaction data.
  • In regions where consent is required (such as the EEA and the UK), Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) asks for your consent first. You can change it at any time from "Ad privacy settings" in Settings (shown only in those regions).
  • On iOS, the App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown once, from the second launch. If you do not allow tracking, IDFA is not used and non-personalised ads are shown.
  • This information is processed under Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

The developer does not collect or see this information directly and only receives aggregate, non-identifying statistics such as impressions and earnings.

(In the Toss mini app, ads are served by Toss's in-app advertising instead of AdMob and are handled under the privacy policies of Toss and its ad providers.)

1-4. Sharing

When you tap "Share" or "Share the app", your device's share sheet opens. If no share sheet is available, the text is copied to the clipboard.

  • What is shared: today's puzzle (the idiom with one character blanked) and its meaning, your result and streak, and a link to the service. The answer is included only if you turn on "Include the answer".
  • Sharing happens only when you tap it, and the developer cannot see who you sent what to.

1-5. Daily reminder

If you turn on "Daily reminder" in Settings, the app schedules a local notification on your device at the time you choose. It is created by your device itself; no device information or push token is sent anywhere. Turning the reminder off cancels all scheduled reminders.

1-6. Rating and updates

  • "Rate the app" opens the Google Play or App Store rating flow. Ratings are handled by the store; the developer does not receive reviewer information.
  • The Android app may ask Google Play whether a new version is available. Google Play handles this check.

1-7. Contact (reporting a puzzle error)

"Report a problem" in Settings opens the mail app on your device. If you send an email, the developer receives your email address and the message (including anything you include, such as the app version) and uses it only to reply and fix the puzzle.

2. Permissions

The app does not request sensitive permissions such as camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos.

  • Notifications: requested only when you turn on the daily reminder. On Android, the app receives the boot-completed signal so that scheduled reminders survive a restart.
  • App Tracking Transparency (iOS): requested as described in 1-3.
  • Internet: used only to show ads and to open store pages.

3. Retention

  • Information on your device: kept until you delete a record in the archive or uninstall the app. There is no external backup.
  • Emails: deleted within one year after the inquiry is resolved.
  • Advertising information: retained according to Google's policies.

4. Sharing with third parties

The developer does not sell, rent or give your information to third parties. Apart from what Google AdMob processes on its own as described in 1-3, the developer does not send any information to third parties.

5. Your rights

  • Delete a record: delete puzzle records one by one in the archive.
  • Delete everything: uninstalling the app removes all of its data from your device.
  • Turn off reminders: turn off "Daily reminder" in Settings, or disable notifications in your device settings.
  • Reset the advertising identifier: on Android, go to Settings > Google > Ads to reset or delete your Advertising ID; on iOS, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking to turn off tracking for the app.
  • Change ad consent: in regions where consent is required, use "Ad privacy settings" in Settings.
  • Delete your emails: ask at the address below and we will delete them without delay.

6. Children's privacy

The service is not directed at children under the age of 14 (Korean law) or under the age of 13, and does not knowingly collect children's personal information. If we learn that a child under 14 sent us an email without a guardian's consent, we will delete it immediately.

7. Privacy officer

  • Name: SiU Ahn (안시우)
  • Email: siwooeo@gmail.com

Please send any privacy questions or complaints to this address. We reply within 7 business days.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised following changes in law or in the service. We will announce revisions in the app or on our website (https://www.reactiveworks.dev) and update the effective date.
