This policy explains how the WeatherWise app ("this app") collects, uses and stores information. This app is provided by ReactiveWorks (developer SiU Ahn). By installing and using this app, you agree to this policy.

1. Information this app collects and sends

This app does not collect personally identifying information such as your name, email address, phone number or postal address. There is no sign-up or login.

To show weather and air-quality information and to send alerts, the following information is processed.

1.1 Stored only on your device (never sent)

Using Hive and SharedPreferences, this app stores the following on your device only:

  • The regions (neighbourhoods) you added, their order, and the region found for your current location
  • Alert settings (rain, fine-dust surge and weather-warning alerts, morning briefing time and days, summary priority)
  • App settings (theme, language, air-quality standard)
  • The last weather and air-quality data received (so it can be shown offline)
  • The weather summary shown on the home-screen widget (in the device's widget storage)

All of this is deleted when you delete the app.

1.2 Location

Your location is used only if you allow the "Current location" feature.

  • Coordinates are rounded to three decimal places (about 100 m) and sent once to this app's weather server to find the nearest neighbourhood.
  • Coordinates are sent only in the request body; the server discards them as soon as the neighbourhood is found. Coordinates are never stored or written to access logs.
  • Without location permission you can still search for regions manually and use every feature.

1.3 Information sent to this app's server

Weather and air-quality data comes from public sources (Korea Meteorological Administration, Korea Environment Corporation AirKorea), collected and organised by this app's server (weatherwise.reactiveworks.dev). In the process the following is sent to the server:

  • Data requests: the neighbourhood code you are viewing, the app language, summary priority and air-quality standard
  • Alert subscription (only if you turn alerts on): a push notification token (a random identifier issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging), the neighbourhood codes to alert for, your alert settings, and the app language

Subscription data is used only to send alerts. It is deleted from the server when you turn all alerts off, or when the token becomes invalid (for example after the app is deleted). To avoid sending the same alert twice, a send log (token, alert type, send time) is kept for at most 8 days. Server access logs (IP address, request time, request path) are kept for at most 30 days for security and troubleshooting, then deleted automatically.

1.4 Push notifications (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging)

Alerts are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which processes the device token and device information needed for delivery.

1.5 Advertising (Google AdMob)

To keep this app free, it shows banner and interstitial ads through the Google AdMob SDK. AdMob may automatically collect and process the following to serve personalised ads and prevent fraud:

  • Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID; iOS IDFA only if you allow tracking)
  • IP address (for approximate location)
  • Device information (model, OS version, screen size, etc.)
  • Ad impressions and clicks

The developer does not collect or store this information; Google processes it under its own privacy policy. Where consent is required (e.g. the European Economic Area), a consent form is shown before ads.

2. Permissions

  • Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION / iOS "While Using the App"): find the region for "Current location". Optional; location is never used in the background.
  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): rain, fine-dust surge, weather-warning and morning-briefing alerts. Optional.
  • Internet: weather data, alerts, ads, store update checks (in_app_update) and review prompts (in_app_review)
  • Boot completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): restore the home-screen widget and scheduled notifications after a restart
  • App Tracking Transparency (iOS): asks whether the advertising identifier may be used for personalised ads. Every feature works if you decline.

This app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, photos or other sensitive permissions.

3. Retention

  • Data stored on your device: until you delete the app
  • Alert subscription on the server: until you turn all alerts off or the token becomes invalid
  • Alert send log on the server: at most 8 days
  • Server access logs: at most 30 days
  • Location coordinates: not stored
  • Data processed by third parties (Google AdMob, Firebase): according to their policies

4. Sharing with third parties

Apart from the processing described in 1.4 (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and 1.5 (Google AdMob), this app does not share or sell your information. No user information is sent to the public agencies that provide the weather and air-quality data.

5. Your rights

  • Delete regions and settings: remove regions in the region manager, or delete the app to remove everything stored on the device.
  • Cancel alert subscription: turn off all alerts in Alert settings; the server subscription is deleted.
  • Stop location use: turn off this app's location permission in system settings.
  • Reset the advertising ID / opt out of personalised ads

- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Reset advertising ID" or "Delete advertising ID"

- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → turn this app off

  • For other access or deletion requests, contact us below; we respond within 7 business days.

6. Children's privacy

This app is not directed at users under the age of 14 (the Korean threshold) and does not knowingly collect information from children, including those under the age of 13. Ads are configured for a general audience.
